at the American Music Awards in 2009, and the 2011 act for Chords for a Cause: Gloriana. Gloriana joined the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra on November 5, 2011 in Wilmington’s Kenan Auditorium to raise funds and children’s spirits.
This was a homecoming show for Gloriana. Two of its members, Tom and Mike Gossin, attended the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. Just a few years before, they may have been among the university students filling in the audience.
The audience’s tickets went towards New Hanover Regional Medical Center‘s cause, just like the previous years. This year supported the Betty H. Cameron Women’s and Children’s Hospital’s Smile Campaign. The hospital purchased specially designed teddy bear wagons and colorful duck IV poles. These cheer the children as they move from their rooms to therapy or playrooms.
To generate these smiles, the concert needed to generate some buzz.
Chords for a Cause Buzz Man: Steve Barber
Marketing for such a rising star at such a fundraiser was no easy task. Steve once again spent hours designing all of the large and small, electronic and print media to market the event.
He spent a few more hours redesigning those materials, too.
In a mad scramble, Steve rehashed the media after Gloriana readjusted their players.
The product? Just as appealing as the first version.
New posters were posted. Gloriana mixed their country with the classical music of the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra. Smiles spread across the needy children in our hospitals.
It was a challenge but a privilege to once again work for Chords for a Cause. Thank you to all of the talented and kind hearts who make such an impact on the community!
